Acer presents two of its newest Windows® 8 tablets at Computex Taipei. The ICONIA W510 evolves the computing experience with three different modes of touchscreen operation, while the ICONIA W700 is the best-performing Windows 8 tablet with the added versatility of a cradle. Both designed to set new standards in ergonomics and user-friendliness.

The most unique part of the W510 tablet is the tri-mode, allowing users to touch, type and view. Aside from the conventional tablet mode, it can be used in productivity mode. A detachable keyboard dock can be connected to the tablet for optimal typing as well as extending the battery life up to 18 hours. Rotating the tablet 295 degrees allows it to be used in presentation mode, which is excellent for watching a video, browsing a webpage or viewing a PowerPoint presentation.

In addition, the W510 has Always On, Always Connect technology, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen, providing a wider viewing angle with more vibrant, consistent and accurate colors. Acer's W700 comes with a multipurpose cradle that allows for several viewing options. Acer Iconia Tab A500 Now Getting Ice Cream Sandwich OS Update Earlier than Expected

It is reported yesterday that the Acer Iconia Tab A100 tablets are getting Ice Cream Sandwich updates a bit early, and now, it seems like the 10-inch version of the tablet will also be updated early. Users of the Acer Iconia Tab A500 are already confirming that their devices received Ice Cream Sandwich update ahead of time.

Basically, Android 4.0.3 wasn’t planned to start rolling out for the tablet before the 27^th, but it seems like Acer has made the decision to proceed and release the update for most (not all) users. If you want to check if the update is already available on your device, just go to Settings > About.

Acer Liquid Express With embedded NFC technology, available in all UK Orange and T-Mobile stores.

Following the launch of the first Acer Liquid smartphones equipped with Android, Acer are now extending their range with a new model - the Acer Liquid Express - the company's first NFC-equipped device.

'As a technology of the future, NFC is a priority for Acer as it can be used for multiple purposes: payment, transport, tickets, loyalty cards, cultural information... and that's without having explored the thousands more applications that will follow.' says Allen Burnes, Vice-President of Acer's THBG division.

Together with Orange UK and T-Mobile UK, Acer promise to make these new services widely accessible thanks to an affordable and easy-to-use smartphone. The Acer Liquid Express offers usage patterns now previously associated by premium smartphones.

Allen Burnes adds 'Even if contactless technology has only just started spreading across the UK, it is important for the customer to take into account future need when choosing a new model. In a few months' time quite a number of smartphone users, whose new smartphones don't include NFC functionality, will have to change their mobile in order to benefit from this new technology.'

The contactless technology embedded in the Liquid Express allows it to adapt to its users' current and future needs reading NFC tags or targets, identification, virtualisation of loyalty or payment cards; all of this according to the tightest security standards and approved by a consortium of expert manufacturers, granting NFC Forum 2 and Cityzi certifications to the Acer Liquid Express.

In addition to the NFC functionality, the Liquid Express is equipped with a large 3'5 screen, a Qualcomm 7227 processor that runs at 800MHz, a 5 MP camera with LED flash and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
