About those mobile graphics predictions - games like The Dark Meadow can't come soon enough

AppId is over the quota

NVIDIA

Earlier, Phil talked a bit about the way mobile graphics are inching their way up towards full-blown console performance. NVIDIA, who is entrenched in gaming and graphic performance on all fronts, at their a little shin-dig in Seattle really wanted to wow us with numbers and slides and predictions. That's all well and good, but if you're like me, the talking only makes you want to see the product and evaluate it against all the hype.

I'll let others hash out the strengths and weaknesses of mobile gaming in relation to PC and console gaming. I'm that guy who bought Skyrim for the PC, but never had a chance to install it and play it yet. I also won't have time to fool with the Diablo III open beta this weekend. But I do have time to play games on my tablet, and I don't want to waste it playing crappy ones. Make it better, do it as fast as you can, and keep folks like me, who would rather play great games on a small screen while kicked back in a La-Z-Boy, all happy inside. That's why the thing I found most exciting about yesterday's little get together was the mention of two new Tegra Games -- Bounty Arms by Kerosene Games and The Dark Meadow from Phosphor studios. Seeing new titles optimized for the Tegra 3 gets me a little tingly, so I poked around the Internet a bit and found that Bounty Arms comes from the same developers who brought us BladeSlinger (which kicks a serious amount of ass), and a short preview of the THD optimized version of The Dark Meadow. These can't come soon enough. Hit the break to see the trailer and I think you'll agree.

SAWS | The Puridium War can't get here soon enough

We're not gonna muck this up with a bunch of words. Just watch. And wait for April, apparently, for SAWS | The Puridium War. Mechs. High-def Mechs. Or, as the dev puts it:

The year is 2210, and the world has begun to rebuild after an exploded near-earth asteroid rained down shards of blue all around the globe. Scientists discovered that the crystals that almost destroyed us all, held the secret to clean energy. Puridium, as it was named, emitted pure un-radiated energy when struck with just the right frequencies, and a new age of man was born. Unfortunately, we weren’t the only things interested in the Puridium. The DEVOUR are creature that started to show up all over the world, hunting and seeking out Puridium. They feed off of the crystals, and will stop at nothing to obtain it, and now we have a planet painted blue with it.

You are PFC Lucas 11 of SAWS Battalion E25, and you have taken an oath to defend humanity from the DEVOUR. As a member of the Special Assault Weapons Squad, you will be piloting the latest generation assault suit equipped with some of the most destructive mobile weapons ever created.

Do. Want.

German court said enough is enough, throws two patent between Samsung and Apple cases

SamsungApple

A Manheim regional court in Germany today launched two disputes between Samsung and Apple patents: the first on Apple ' s trial on Samsung ' s technology 3 G/UMTS, the second on Samsung ' use of s slide to unlock gesutres on its devices. The negative decision of Samsung is the third in a row in Germany, while the decision against Apple is the first of two, the second scheduled for a hearing March 16.

The Court decision comes just a few weeks after a Court in Munich decided that Motorola had indeed infringed on Apple ' patent s slide to unlock, resulting from changes being made to Motorola ' s unlock feature.

Today ' s decision is just a drop in the bucket, as it is of at least 14 disputes between Samsung and Apple pending in Germany, with more to start around the world. Samsung has already promised to call today ' decision, while Apple will probably do the same.

The back and forth between Apple and other manufacturers is by no means complete, but it is refreshing to see a judge as fed up with her as everyone is. With Apple, Samsung, Motorola and HTC all set to release some heavy devices - hit in the coming months, we ' ll be sure to keep you posted as the ravages of the war on.
