Draw Something sees daily users decline by 5 million

No app developer wants to hear that they've lost 5 million daily users in the space of just 30 days. Sadly for the now Zynga owned OMGPOP, that is precisely the situation they find themselves in. 

Draw Something has been the hot ticket since its release on Android and iOS, amassing huge download figures on both platforms in a relatively short space of time. According to information provided by App Data? though, the number of users is in decline. At its peak, Draw Something had over 15 million daily users. In just 30 days, that number has slipped by 5 million, knocking off a third of the daily user base. 

?App Data's ?numbers are based upon the Facebook login method of playing the game. This of course isn't the only way to play, but it is the most popular, so it paints a pretty clear picture. Motorola ships 5.1 million smartphones in Q1, posts $121 million loss

Motorola this afternoon posted its Q1 2012 earnings, and things aren't all that rosy on the phone side of the biz. While revenue in its mobile device division was up 3 percent to $2.2 billion, Motorola Mobility still posted a $121 million (GAAP) operating loss for the quarter, some $32 million more than a year ago.

On the plus side, Moto shipped some 8.9 million mobile devices, with 5.1 million of them of the smartphone variety. 

Moto's bullet points for the quarter were the Droid RAZR MAXX and Droid 4, the Motoluxe (which is a bit of a hit outside the U.S.) and the Bubba Watson-branded MOTOACTV Golf Edition.

Samsung reportedly sells 2 million Galaxy Notes, hopes for 10 million by year's end

Samsung has sold two million Galaxy Note smartphones since the device's debut last November, according to the latest numbers reported by Forbes. The figure sees Samsung doubling the initial million sold between late October and late December 2011, and is likely boosted by the Note's recent launch in the U.S. and Canada. Forbes also says the manufacturer is aiming for a total of 10 million by the end of the year.

We imagine this is a predicted number for all Note series devices, including the recently unveiled Galaxy Note 10.1, a product which sits firmly on the "tablet" side of the phone/tablet divide. Rumors of a 7-inch Galaxy Note also persist, despite the lack of such a device at Mobile World Congress. However, given the speed at which Samsung is rolling out new phones and tablets, we'd be surprised if we didn't see more Galaxy Notes before the end of 2012.

Samsung also announced strong sales of its Galaxy S II series recently, including global sales of 20 million units and 5 million sold in Samsung's native South Korea.
