NVIDIA Tegra 3 Architecture To Be Called 4-PLUS-1

NVIDIA Tegra 3 Architecture To Be Called 4-PLUS-1

NVIDIA has officially coined a name for its unique quad-core architecture found in the Tegra 3 chip. It’s technology will be called the 4-PLUS-1 quad-core architecture and here’s the reasoning behind the naming choice:
“The more popular this technology became, the more our customers wanted a name for it that’s unique and descriptive. A name they could put on a box or a store sign that immediately represents its value”
If you stop and think about it, the 4-PLUS-1 name makes total sense. NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 chip will utilize 4 powerful CPU cores in order do tasks such as gaming, but then feature a 5th low-power battery-saver core to do smaller jobs like processing emails. NVIDIA also gave a subtle hint for its plans of the Tegra 3 processor and its architecture by mentioning this:
“Don’t be surprised to see it turning up more and more in devices at next week’s Mobile World Congress and beyond”
Will we see more Tegra 3 devices than we think at MWC next week and in the near-future? Stay tuned with Talk Android to find out!
