AT&T adding shared data plans next month

A few months after Verizon launched its Share Everything plans, AT&T has announced that it too will offer shared data plans starting in August. Like Verizon, AT&T’s plan offers unlimited talk and text, as well as support for up to 10 devices per account. The same basic structure underlies the AT&T and Verizon plans, [...]]]>

Carbon for Android will be free, aiming for release later this month

Carbon for Android

Some good news tonight for everyone waiting on the Carbon for Android Twitter client. Release is nigh! Developer Dots & Lines let loose tonight on Google+ for the first time since offering up a teaser video nearly four months ago, announcing that Carbon is aiming for release the week of July 22. And what's more -- it's going to be free.

That's not to say it's not going to be a full-featured Twitter client. We've been fortunate to use a couple early versions for a number of weeks now. And even with the odd bug and a number of features not yet active (hey, it's alpha testing after all) we're more than a little excited about this one. The design is top notch, the scrolling is to die for.

So why's it going to be free if it's so awesome? Dots & Lines is based in the UAE and had expected Google to allow paid apps from that country by now. That hasn't happened. Instead of waiting, we all get to benefit. (Here's to hoping there's a donation version, too. Perhaps an in-app option?) And it gets even better -- no pesky ads, either.

Says Dots & Lines:

So, we finally decided to make it a free app. Yep, a premium free app. No Ads (we believe that Ads cripple the experience no matter how efficiently done, it's just wrong on an app that users use all day long). Going free, doesn't mean watering the app down, but a mean to get the app that we've been working on for a long time, designs that went through endless iterations and tweaking to be experienced out there by our eager friends who've been waiting for months.

Dots & Lines goes on to say that what hits Google Play the week of July 22 won't be a beta test, either. It'll be a full-blow version 1 build. Those of us with test builds (and we really can't wait for everyone else to get to try Carbon) should see an update in the next week or so, ahead of the public release. We're counting the days.

Motorola Motoluxe launching in Hungary this month

Android Central

Hot on the heels of the Motoluxe announcement for Poland comes word from Motorola that the Motoluxe will be available in Hungary this month, too. This mid-range device lacks the dust and water resistance of the DEFY MINI, but it does have a larger display at 4" and slightly heftier battery. We saw it at CES, and came away with a reasonably positive impression of what Motorola has done here. Yeah, it's another Gingerbread phone, but what are you gonna do. Gingerbread is still good enough, and Motorola has put Motoblur on top of this to improve ease of use. It'll be available on T-Mobile Hungary in April for 79 900 HUF.

Mobile Nations Fitness Month round-up!

Mobile Nations Fitness Month round up

The month may be over, but the Mobile Nations quest to use our phones and tablets, apps and accessories to get stronger, faster, and healthier continues!

February was fitness month at Mobile Nations, the month we sought to keep our new year's hopes and dreams of thinner waistlines and fitter bodies alive. Week after week we picked reasonable, attainable goals and strove to keep them -- eating less and better, moving farther and more frequently, lifting more than ever before.

Samsung Galaxy S III to be released next month after it's announced this month, says ZDNet Korea

Samsung

The Samsung Galaxy S III (or now, apparently, the Galaxy S3) will be released in April, after it's announced in March, says ZDNet Korea, citing marketing sources. Could well happen. Or not. Of course, Samsung has to announce the phone, and then release dates will roll out worldwide as they always do -- slowly and gradually. And those of us here in the United States will have to wait for the carriers to make their own announcements. ZDNet's sources say it'll all revolve around some heavy Summer Olympics marketing, which would make sense.

We'll let you know when we actually see announcement invites or something ... what's that word ... official.

LG confirms Optimus L3 hits Europe this month

LG Optimus L3

The LG Optimus L3 is far form the high end of the Korean manufacturer's L-Series line of Android smartphones, but it'll also the first out of the gate when it hits Europe later this month, with Asia and Russia to follow.

The L3 is the low end of the trio, with a 3.2-inch display, 3MP camera and just a couple of gigabytes of storage space, plus it's on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. But it does fit nicely in small hands, so it's got that going for it.

We've got LG's full presser after the break, and be sure to check out our hands-on from Mobile World Congress with the three phones in LG's new L-Series of Android smartphones.
