Android Central

Update: Carphone Warehouse is now offering a pre-order price for the Galaxy S III, at £499.95 -- about the going rate for a high-end smartphone in the UK.

We're just back from Samsung's Galaxy S III unveiling at the 2012 Unpacked event in London, where it's been announced that the phone will go on sale in Europe from May 29. Following the S III's public debut the usual host of carriers and retailers have announced that they'll be stocking the device.

We already knew that O2 UK and Vodafone UK would be getting Samsung's new flagship smartphone, but we can add Three and Orange to that list, as both have today confirmed that they'll range the S III. And Vodafone says it'll exclusively offer the 32GB version in the UK for the first month of its availability. And we've had confirmation from Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse that they'll stock the Galaxy S III, too.

Elsewhere, Samsung will revealed a world tour event that'll take place in several cities around the world. Venues will include Moscow, Beijing, Zurich, Dubai, Seoul, Delhi, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, New York and an unannounced location in  South-East Asia.

Stay tuned for the first details on U.S. availability.

Huawei Ascend P1

While the Huawei Ascend P1 was subject to much speculation surrounding its actual release dates, Huawei has now announced the global availability for their flagship dual-core smartphone.

“The global availability of the Ascend P1, which combines smart features and a sexy design, represents a significant milestone for Huawei Device.  We are sending strong signals of our intention to transform into a consumer-facing brand and extend our market leadership globally by strengthening our range of flagship products. For visuals, you get a 4.3-inch super AMOLED 960 x 540 display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass along with an 8MP shooter and running the whole package is a healthy dose of Ice Cream Sandwich

The Huawei Ascend P1 will be available in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Australia through operators and retailers by May 2012, in Latin America from June 2012 and in Europe from summer, with availability in other markets soon after. Three UK announces availability of Sony Xperia S

Today sees the official UK launch of Sony's new flagship smartphone, the Xperia S, with the news that Three UK has begun selling the device. The phone went on sale exclusively at the Sony Store in Barcelona during MWC, and is expected to see broader availability in the next week or so.

Despite Three's announcement, we're not seeing the Xperia S anywhere on the networks' online store, so your best bet may be to track down your local brick-and-mortar Three shop if you want to pick one of these up.

Three says it's offering the Xperia S for free on contracts of £30 or more per month, but it's also available for a surprisingly reasonable £369.99 on pay-as-you-go. That's not at all bad for a dual-core phone with a 720p display and an impressive 12MP camera (even if you'll have to wait until Q2 for ICS).

For more on the Xperia S, make sure you read our first impressions, and stay tuned for the full review in the days ahead.
