Motorola launch 3G versions of Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition in the UK

The Motorola Xoom 2 has been with us in the UK for a few months now, albeit only in WiFi only flavor. Today though, Motorola has made available the 3G + WiFi variants of both the Xoom 2 and the smaller Xoom 2 Media Edition.

Available online and in-store from the Carphone Warehouse from today, there has also been a small price cut on the WiFi only versions at that retailer. Prices now start from £299.99 for the Media Edition WiFi only. The 3G versions are priced at £399.99 for the Media Edition, and £449.99 for the 10.1-inch Xoom 2.

The Xoom 2 is still shipping with Android 3.2, which in this day and age could put some potential buyers off, especially when you consider the astronomical price tag. Nevertheless it's still a pretty solid tablet. If 3G is all you've been waiting on, then wait no longer.

HTC One X Deluxe Limited Edition announced in Taiwan

AppId is over the quota AppId is over the quota

With the One X due to launch internationally in the next month or so, HTC has revealed a limited edtion version of the handset in its home territory of Taiwan. Taiwanese site ePrice reports that the HTC One X Deluxe Limited Edition includes a set of Beats Solo wireless headphones, along with some fancy minimalist packaging.

Taiwanese retailers will start taking pre-orders for the limited edition One X starting next Tuesday, March 20. At this stage it's unknown whether HTC plans to launch this limited package elsewhere, but we saw a similar bundle with the Sensation XL in the UK last year, so our fingers are crossed.

In case you've just emerged from a month-long hibernation, the One X is HTC's flagship smartphone for 2012, with a quad-core CPU, a 720p screen and HTC's new ImageSense camera tech. We got hands-on with the device at MWC and last week's Three UK showcase event.

It's good to be home.

Don't get me wrong. Mobile World Congress is a blast. That we get to work for a week in Barcelona, Spain, is but one perk of this job, and certainly not one that should be taken for granted. As always, it's great to see old friends and make a few new ones, too. And to top it all off, we had great weather this year. (The past two had been cold, wet and relatively miserable, especially for those of us from Florida.)

Oh, and we got to see the next generation of smartphones. So, yeah, there's that, too.

And with that, a few thoughts on the far side of MWC ...

From the Editor's Desk: Mobile World Congress edition

Welcome to Barcelona and Mobile World Congress. And things are already pretty insane. And we're not just talking tapas here. Though if you want to talk tapas, I can go on for days. And if history repeats, probably will for a week or two once I get home. My wife's already prepared for me to eat only (and, yes, many) small portions of meat and cheese for days.

But enough about the food.

Saturday was a travel and decompression day for many of us here. Arrive in the early morning after flying through the night. Find your apartment or hotel, get settled in, and head out on the town. Eric from Phonescoop got about 30 or so of us together Saturday night. Great to see friends old and new. And, somehow, we made it home.

But enough about the drink.

Let's talk about about the news of the past week, and what we're about to see here in Spain.
