ASUS on Jelly Bean updates: Transformer Pad, Prime and Infinity all winners

ASUS today dropped word on its plans for Jelly Bean updates. The lucky tablet winners? The Transformer Pad, Transformer Pad Prime and the Transformer Pad Infinity. And ... that's it, so far. ASUS says it's still deciding on updates for other devices, but those guys are sure deals so far. Also, no word on when we'll see an update to Android 4.1, other than "in the coming months."

Here's the full statement:

Dear valued ASUS customer,

At ASUS, one of the key commitments we make to our customers is a relentless drive to deliver the best user experience. We constantly strive to achieve this goal through our ‘Design Thinking’ philosophy that includes regular software and firmware updates for our products.

We are pleased to announce that many of our tablet products are scheduled to receive an update to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The ASUS Transformer Pad, ASUS Transformer Pad Prime and ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive Android 4.1 updates in the coming months. We will provide further guidance on our expected timeframes for these updates near their release.

We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.

Thank you for your continued support.

Lloyd announces the winners of his Galaxy S III adventure contest!

Well, folks, this is it. Lloyd has returned from all of his exhilarating adventures and has lived to tell the tales. You guys took him everywhere and he told me he had the best time of his life! Adventures included multiple theme parks, hiking some of the coolest places on earth like islands and volcanoes, spelunking in caves, swimming in lakes and oceans, frolicking on the beach, visiting long lost family members, and seeing a ton of far off places on all continents of the globe. Lloyd was treated to soccer and baseball games, concerts, and visits to the doctor and dentist. He even took rides on planes, trains, automobiles, boats, weather balloons, motorcycles ... you name it, Lloyd was on it.

With just under 300 entries, it was super hard for Lloyd to narrow down his favorites. He wanted to give everyone a prize, but unfortunately that's not possible. We did decide to add prizes for runners up so on top of the four grand prize winners who will each get a Samsung Galaxy S III, we have 12 runners-up who will each receive a $25 gift certificate to  ShopAndroid.com. So, without further ado, let's announce the winners!

Android Central weekly photo contest winners: Photo filters and effects

The winner of this week's photo contest is Cody Griffith, who captured the full hipster spirit with his entry. Taken with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and using the Pixlr-o-matic app, he successfully made an image captured with amazing 21st-century technology look like something taken in 1974. Nice work Cody. Keep an eye on your inbox for information about your prize.

We had some other great entries this week, as we usually do. Android users love to take good pictures (we have thousands and thousands of pieces of evidence). Hit the break to see the 10 runners-up to get an idea of just how good some of the submissions are. We'll start a new contest tomorrow and do it all again next week.

Android Central weekly photo contest winners: Self-portrait

As usual, you guys floored us with all the submissions for last week's photo contest. It's solid proof that Android lovers also enjoy taking pictures and sharing them with the world, so manufacturers and app developers better step it up and give us even more love. All the pictures were awesome, and we wish we could say every single was was the winner, but that's not how contests work. We picked out the top five, and you'll find them after the break.

Didn't win this week? No worries. A new contest starts tomorrow, so keep an eye out for it. For the winners, a big congrats and keep an eye on your inbox for information about your Android Central t-shirts!
