Amzer TPU case

TPU – thermoplastic polyurethane – might just be the most durable material for a phone case.

Your new Samsung Galaxy S III (S3) is one of the most sophisticated and technologically advanced phones you can buy.  TPU is a sophisticated material known for resisting abrasion, great low temperature performance, good transparency and elasticity and resistant to fingerprints.

SanDisk 16 GB microSDHC card review

SanDisk 16 GB micro SDHC card

That little empty slot inside your Galaxy S3 is just waiting to be filled by a high capacity microSD card – what are you waiting for?

The Samsung Galaxy S III (S3) has been lauded in the press, praised here at Android Central and generally loved by its users.

Of the many great features, one that separates the Galaxy S3 from many of its competitors (like the HTC One X or the iPhone 4S) is that the back comes off. A removable back means removable batteries and removable storage.

Review: HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE for Verizon Wireless

The HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE continues the tradition of awfully long Android device names, and is the latest entry in the Verizon DROID Incredible series of devices. The DROID Incredible line has been very popular for Verizon, and I on several occasions have recommended one of the Incredible devices to friends and co-workers who [...]]]>

Review: Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon Wireless

The Samsung Galaxy S III released on all major U.S. networks to much fanfare. It’s not uncommon to hear the Galaxy S III referred to as the pinnacle of Android smartphones, and with good reason. With the latest internal components, amazing external aesthetics and a killer screen, the Galaxy S III has everything the Android [...]]]>

Sony Smartwatch review

Over the last couple of years I have desired a smartwatch, but I have yet to find one that had style and delivered all the features I needed. Sony’s LiveView accessory got me excited a couple of years ago, but the early reviews said it had some issues and didn’t live up to people’s expectations. [...]]]>

Acer Iconia Tab A700 review

Acer Iconia Tab A700

With the recent introduction of Google’s Nexus 7, Android tablets have reached a bit of a crossroads. To the right lies the current trend of beefed up specs and raw computing power; on the left lies the newly-blazed trail of “content as king.” Ask Google and it will say that its latest project is the face of how Android tablets should proceed, though unfortunately for tablet makers, that news hasn’t quite made it down the pike yet.

Take for example Acer, a company that has focused solely on specs for its Android tablets, and thus hasn’t been able to garner the attention that its competitors enjoy. Any maybe the reason for this is its lack of innovation: sure, you can put the latest and greatest processor and display on a tablet, but does that really make it unique enough to catch a consumer’s eye? Acer’s latest attempt at attracting people’s attention is the Iconia Tab A700, the 10-inch successor to its first venture, the Iconia A500. But has Acer done any innovating here?  Unfortunately, the A700 is the same Android tablet you’ve seen time and time again from nearly every Android manufacturer under the sun. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you’re a hardcore Android fan, but it’s far from being a good thing for those who have yet to jump onto the Android tablet bandwagon.

Where the heck is our review of the Acer Iconia Tab A700?

Acer Iconia Tab A700

Some of you might be wondering what ever happened to our review of Acer’s new Iconia Tab A700, and rightfully so.  We promise we didn’t forget, and we’re definitely not keeping you all on pins and needs for the fun of it. Everyone here at Android Central strives to provide the most fair, balanced, and thorough product reviews possible, and sometimes a speed bump or two along the way is just inevitable.

The A700 review unit we’ve been testing seems to be giving us a bit of a hard time; inconsistent performance, slow-downs, and freeze-ups have rendered our tablet all but unusable (though despite it all, that HD screen still looks great). Before we unfairly write off the A700, we’ve requested a replacement unit to make sure the problems we’ve seen aren’t consistent across the board. Bum units happen sometimes, especially in the technology world, and that’s something to always keep in mind as both a consumer and a reviewer. So sit tight, stay patient and know that we’re hard at work making sure you have all the facts before you plop down $450 on Acer’s latest tablet.

Nexus 7 review

Nexus 7

The long-awaited Google Nexus 7 tablet is upon us, and for many it is all we ever dreamed of. But not everything is perfect.

Since you're reading this, chances are you're an Android fan. That means you're as excited as we are about the new Nexus 7 tablet, and what Google can bring to the table with a tablet where it alone controls both the hardware and the software. It's good to be excited about it, it's a big step in a direction we've been wanting for a long time.

About 6,000 lucky folks got there hands on a Nexus 7 when Google handed them out at its Google I/O developer conference, and that gives us time to use and abuse it then tell you how things worked out. We're all Android all the time here, and we're pretty impressed with this one. It's almost everything we wanted it to be.

Almost.

Hit the break and see what we think of Google's new baby, the Nexus 7.

Orange San Diego review

Android Central

Intel finally arrives on Android, but is it everything we were hoping for?

The Android/Intel love affair kicked off officially in January back at CES in Las Vegas. Back then, the computing giant took to the stage to show off their new, prototype hardware running on its Medfield chipset. The demonstration was impressive, boasting incredible performance from a single-core processor running under a customized version of Gingerbread.

Almost six months on, and in the UK at least, the first Intel-powered Android smartphone has made it to market. Launched in partnership with UK carrier Orange, the San Diego is the first of what Intel's hoping will be a host of devices from Intel. The launch event in London made it clear the phone would be aggressively marketed, and indeed this marketing has already begun. This is the first own-brand smartphone that Orange has ever pushed TV advertising for. And those ads focus on one thing -- speed.

Promising performance on par with dual-core phones at an affordable price, the San Diego, on paper at least, is an enticing prospect. That's all well and good, but how does it measure up in real life? Find out after the break, as we walk you through the Orange San Diego.
