Adobe Reader adds eSignatures capability - Electronically sign and send documents without printing or faxing

Adobe

Adobe has rolled out their latest improvement for their Adobe Reader application and it solves an issue that you may have ran into in the past. Adobe Reader now includes the Adobe Echosign feature for allowing you to sign, annotate and even request signatures on the go across all of their offerings be it on smartphone, tablet or desktop:

  • Ink Signature Tool – Users can electronically sign a document by hand-drawing their signature with their finger on a touchscreen.
  • Send for Signature – Users can connect to Adobe EchoSign to get others to sign documents electronically, enabling senders to track and manage the status of documents online. In addition, signed contracts are archived in the cloud, making it easy for users to retrieve documents from anywhere, at any time, via a Web browser.

In addition to the Echosign feature being added, Adobe has also improved upon other features in the app as well such as annotation of documents, sticky note comments for PDF files and a new form fill option that allows you to fill out forms, save them and then forward them off to others. The full press release and download can be found past the break.

Third-party store uploading Android apps to BlackBerry App World without developers permission?

Android Central

The long awaited OS 2.0 update for the BlackBerry Playbook brought with it a whole host of opportunities for new apps. Now that repackaged Android applications are compatible with the PlayBook, and being accepted into BlackBerry App World, some well known names are starting to appear in the listings.

One such name is Dolphin Browser HD. A highly respected Android replacement browser appearing on the BlackBerry Playbook. Impressive. Despite being a phone browser, Dolphin is absolutely superb on the PlayBook and many already prefer it to the stock browser. Quickly -- although not surprisingly -- it has become one of the top 25 free apps in the App World catalogue.

Everything is rosy then yes? Well, no, not quite. The submission to App World wasn't made by MoboTap, the developers of Dolphin. The submission was made by Handster, a third party store owned by Opera. Someone else doing the work on the behalf of the developers -- a win surely? Turns out MoboTap were blissfully unaware that Handster had repackaged and submitted Dolphin to the App World for approval. Handster had already put out a statement prior to the OS 2.0 launch that they were to be uploading apps on behalf of developers.

A spokesman for MoboTap told Engadget that; "We do not condone Handster submitting our Dolphin Browser app to BlackBerry's App World for us and are currently working to take it down and assure Handster will not submit our app for us again. We will assess developing for BlackBerry when the time is right."

Even though Dolphin is a free application in the Android Market, the question still remains over why Handster are submitting an application to BlackBerry App World without permission. A quick search finds a pretty big selection of apps that Handster have submitted -- albeit a lot of them aren't that good -- including paid applications.

In any case, it seems that MoboTap are doing everything they can to remove Dolphin Browser HD from App World. Questions have been raised, but more importantly we're hoping that there aren't any Android developers being taken advantage of.

Koush Does It Again: ClockworkMod Tether Alpha Circumvents Carrier Restrictions And Brings USB Tethering Without Root Access

At one point, tethering was a simple process - installing a program from the Android Market would enable the feature and you were good to go. Of course, carriers didn't like this, because instead of paying them an extra $30(ish) a month to use their hotspot service, you were gaining access to the feature for free. So they had many tethering apps pulled from the Market. Not only that, but many carriers put a block directly on devices that disallowed the use of common tethering apps.

Now, you can find "tethering" gracing many of the reasons to root your Android device articles across the net. But what about users who only want to tether and aren't confortable with rooting (or otherwise have no desire to gain root access)? Enter a new app from Koush, the mind behind some of the most important apps on Android, like ClockworkMod Recovery and ROM Manager. This new app, called ClockworkMod Tether, will allow users to bypass carrier tethering restrictions without root access.

This is a USB tethering solution and also requires a virtual network adapter to be installed on any computer (it's Mac, Windows, and Linux compatible) in which tethering will be used (also provided by Koush). At the current time, ClockworkMod Tether is still in its alpha stages, and as a result, Koush is asking for user feedback on the apps ease of setup and use, as well as how well it functioned during use.

If you're ready to give it a shot, head over to this Google+ posting to grab the download and give it a shot!
