Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX outed by Verizon alongside purple DROID RAZR, 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7

Looks like the Motorola DROID 4 isn't the only new addition to the DROID family today, as Verizon has officially announced two more new handsets featuring its DROID branding. First up we've got the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX, which crams a large 3,300mAh battery into a body that measures 8.99mm thick (the original DROID RAZR is 7.1mm thick). Other features include a 4.3-inch qHD (960x540) Super AMOLED Advanced display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 32GB memory, 4G LTE connectivity, and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Verizon adds that the DROID RAZR MAXX, along with the DROID RAZR and DROID Xyboard tablets, will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Look for the DROID RAZR MAXX to launch "in the coming weeks" for $299.99 on contract.

Verizon and Motorola also revealed today that the DROID RAZR will soon be released in another new color. After having already come to market in both black and white versions, the DROID RAZR will soon come in purple as well. Expect the purple DROID RAZR to launch in the coming weeks for $199.99 with a two-year contract. Photos of the handset are below.

Lastly, we've got a new Samsung-made product headed toward Verizon to tell you about. It's the 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, a device we spied in Verizon's internal systems last month. The LTE Tab 7.7 features a (you guessed it) 7.7-inch 1280x800 Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 3-megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p video capture, front-facing 2-megapixel camera, 16GB storage, mobile hotspot support for up to 10 devices and 4G LTE connectivity in a body that measures 7.9mm thick. Expect to find Android 3.2 running beneath Samsung's TouchWiz UI. Just like several other new Verizon devices announced today, the LTE Galaxy Tab 7.7 will be hitting Big Red's shelves "in the coming weeks."

Although it's kind of strange to see Motorola and Verizon pump out a new version of the DROID RAZR just a couple of months after the original first debuted, the RAZR MAXX should pique the interest of folks that have been eyeing the original DROID RAZR but were concerned about its non-removable 1,780mAh battery. And that purple DROID RAZR? Not only is it great to see the RAZR being released in yet another color, it's even more awesome that that color is purple. After all, that's not a hue that you often see smartphones released in. What do you make of these new devices, folks? Any one of them going to be calling your pocket (or coffee tablet) home soon?(source)
